Here is some logistical information about the conference. The page will be updated regularly.
Make sure that you refresh your browser when you visit this page.
1. Please take a minute to read over the “Summer At Skidmore Info Guide”. It provides all sorts of relevant information
such as Campus Hours, Registration, Internet access, parking, emergency telephone numbers, etc. A downloadable pdf version (for offline use) is available here.
2. Registration will take place in Gannet
Lobby and the conference will take place in Davis Auditorium, both of which are located on the second floor of
Palamountain. Morning Coffee and Coffee Breaks will also take place in Davis
Auditorium. Lunch will be served in
Palamountain 201, a few steps from Davis Auditorium.
3. All overnight guests should register their car at
Case Desk upon check in and they will be given a tag to hang from their rear
view mirror. No tag is required for
commuters, but please check the Summer Info Guide as some parking lots might
not be available due to construction or operations.
4.
I am staying in one of the Sussman apartments and I will register as early as
they open (8:30 am) on Monday so I can figure out any potential issues. If
you arrive on campus during the day (any time until 9 pm), I can meet you and
help you to find your way to registration. If it is not too late I can also show you the
campus and the location of the Davis auditorium. I'll have some snacks so people staying
outside of campus can also stop by and "pre-register". I sent you my phone number on an previous
message and I will be reachable through e-mail.
5. The meal options at the Dining Hall are very decent, but I have also collected a list of suggestions for places to eat downtown from a couple of friends that leave downtown. Their suggestions can be find here. As you register, we will providing a Dining Guide from the Saratoga Chamber of Commerce.
6.
The weather is supposed to be warm next week. Usually Davis has AC but we are
having some problems with facilities and the AC might not be fixed in time.
Fortunately, Davis does not get too hot, but just in case you should bring both
warm and light clothes. I am sorry about this but the problem is affecting most
buildings.
7. The Conference Barbecue will be outdoors, on the back of the Case Center. We can move to an adjacent dining hall if we get bad weather. Beware that mosquitos can be a big aggressive in the Adirondacks, so you might want to bring some repellent.
8.
We strongly recommend that you bring your presentations loaded on an
USB or have a link to the presentation online. We have both a PC and a
Mac already set up for the projector and it saves a lot of time if we
can just load the files through the USB (or access them online). Using
personal laptops takes precious time to set up, and they are prone to
lead to incompatibility problems.
